Our Picks - November, 2021

If you are a person that likes quality all-weather boots, then Hunter is the go-to brand for you. This may sound a bit snotty, but they honestly are amazing. These all-weather boots will keep your feet warm and dry in the most inclement weather. I buy my grandchildren a pair whenever they outgrow their last. They have socks you can purchase separately that fit inside the boots. I like them so much I have bought a pair for myself. They come in a variety of colors and shaft height. They can be purchased directly from the Hunter site or from a variety of stores including Nordstroms.

One of my favorite perfumes to wear is from Jo Malone - Peony & Blue Suede. If you are looking for a unique gift for someone, check out her fragrances and colognes. There are 5 unique scents: citrus, fruity, light floral, spicy and woodsy and I have found these at Sephora, Dillards and Nordstroms. One of the scent specialists can help you pick the right combination of fragrances. They also sell luxurious candles to go along with the perfume. Makes a wonderful Christmas present!

As the holidays approach I find myself extremely busy. I love to cook but appreciate any assistance in making a quick but yummy meal to serve to my family. I came across this packaged Tortilla Soup mix that we love. Frontier Gluten Free South of the Border Tortilla Soup.

It is easy to make and perfect for the cooler evenings of the season. I follow the recipe on the package and add a little more corn, pulled chicken and serve it over rice. Top it with a little cheese, sour cream, fresh avocados and tortilla chips and you will have a delicious and healthy satisfying meal for your family in less than 30 minutes. It is made with natural ingredients and is Gluten free. No preservatives or MSG. This soup mix can be found at most grocery stores and Amazon.

Enjoy!

Gratitude Pumpkin

Help your grandchildren to be especially grateful and celebrate all that they have, as well as what they’re thankful for with a Gratitude Pumpkin. It's perfect for November and Thanksgiving! I came across this simple way to teach the grandkids and I love that it also serves as a visual reminder.

Teaching our grandchildren about being thankful and grateful is definitely a year round activity however, November and Thanksgiving is always the perfect time to really focus on that! Talking about, celebrating, and writing down everything we’re thankful for on a Gratitude Pumpkin, which will then serve as the centerpiece on our dinner table, as a visual reminder, is one of my favorite activities for November.

When we recognize all that we’re thankful for, we begin to realize that we do have “enough”. There will always be those that have more than us but we keep in mind too, that we will also always have more than others. When we teach our grandchildren to recognize this, they are more willing to share kindness, empathy and compassion with others. What could be better?

Be sure to purchase your pumpkin asap and begin writing on your Gratitude Pumpkin throughout November. You can write on a fake pumpkin as well and save it so you can see what everyone was grateful for in previous years. Keep your pumpkin on your kitchen counter during the month as a reminder to write on it! As the grandparent, you can start off at the top of the pumpkin and write in bold letters: We Are Thankful For… or We Are Grateful For…. Begin with the important, like Jesus, family, friends and then move on to sillier ideas such as coffee,

movie night, etc.

Let our lives be full of both thanks and giving!

xoxo

I'm loving this Pumpkin Overnight Face Mask from Trader Joe's. Reasonably priced at $6.99 and very moisturizing! If you're having company for Thanksgiving, purchase two - one for you and one to put in the bathroom for your guests to use. You won't be disappointed!
