"A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there,
but a guiding light whose love shows us the way."
As much as I love Mother's Day, I equally love Father's Day! It's a day for me to honor my dad and my husband. However, we all know that we get busy with our day-to-day activities and sometimes take our parents for granted. So, I am glad that there is a day dedicated just for them!
I was blessed to have an amazing dad! From the time I was little, I looked up to him. As a little girl, he was my first hero and I was his little princess! As I got older, I noticed how well he treated my mom: from taking her on dates, bringing her flowers (when she got flowers, I got flowers :-) ), making her smile and honoring her until the day she passed away in 2013. I will always be his biggest cheerleader! So I believe that influenced who I chose as a husband and father for my children and boy, did I hit the jackpot!
Through the years, my kids loved making homemade gifts for their dad and he still has quite a few of their treasures 34 years later. It's something that all parents cherish because it's from the heart and made with lots of love!
If you'd like to print something out for your dad, here are some cute printables from Real Simple to either go with the perfect gift for your grandpa or dad or by itself. Of course, crayons/markers and paper work just fine, too!
