15 Books For Your Grandchildren That Will Instill The Importance of Love, Compassion and Friendship.

What's not to like about Valentine's Day? I love the flowers, everything pink and red, everyone is happy and, of course, there is the chocolate. Yes, love and good vibes are in the air! Wouldn't it be nice if we had more than one day a year to remind us of all the different ways to show someone you care. Happily handing out tokens of affection to those you appreciate on a regular basis.

I have been thinking of some ways to give our grandchildren a better idea of what Valentine's Day is really about. A holiday focused on love provides a chance to share other valuable lessons with them. Different ages require appropriate conversations and a book can help introduce that. Even a baby gets so excited for you to read to them and a child is never too young to learn about love and kindness. If you missed Mimi Jackie's blog post on ways to encourage kindness in your grandchildren, click here. In her blog post, she has several book suggestions that help to instill kindness and friendship.

You also want to keep that love of reading alive as they grow into little people. A book is something they will have for many years and it gives you an excuse for cuddle time. It is a perfect way to open their hearts not only to the meaning of love but also kindness and compassion to others. A book opens up an opportunity to talk about the message and how they could help spread love and make the world a better place.

I have listed below a few books for each age level that you may want to consider sharing with your grandchildren. Some are new and some have been around for many years. They all have unique and sweet messages that I hope your both enjoy!

If you are a new Grandmother this might be a good time for you to start a holiday collection adding another book each year. If you have saved books from your children, it would be fun to add them to the collection. I have books from many of the different holidays when my kids were little. I loved reading them to my grandchildren when they were younger and they loved knowing they belonged to their mother.

I hope you have fun choosing a book that you can enjoy with your grandchildren this Valentine's Day.
