A New Tradition-Festival of the Elves

As we approach Christmas, we Gigis are always looking for fun ways to convey the magic of the season. I want to introduce you to the delightful new children’s book by Angeli J. Elliot, “Festival of the Elves, The Magic Around You.” It’s about a couple of sibling elves named Noel and Holly who choose to carry on their grandpa’s elf family tradition to bring secret notes and joy to human families from the first day of December through Christmas Eve. The illustrations are colorful and adorable and the story has a great message about the importance of tradition, sharing joy and being grateful.

In addition to the book, the author has created a website to help you start the “Festival of the Elves” tradition in your own family. It’s kind of like an advent calendar, but much more personalized and fun. At www.FestivaloftheElves.com you can register to receive daily “elf notes.” The website was designed to help parents and grandparents reenact the fun of receiving elf notes. They have 15 elves waiting to write notes. Click on Elf Life to see the elf bios. Also, over the next few weeks they plan to roll out more content and features such as elf facts, coloring pages, an interactive North Pole map as well as elf recipes. Festival of the Elves starts December 1 and continues through December 24; over those days families can read personalized elf notes via the website or the notes can be printed and hidden for kids to find.

So head on over to www.FestivaloftheElves.com and register to receive your daily elf notes. This is a wonderful way to spread the joy and excitement of the anticipation of the birthday of our Savior, along with the reminder to be grateful that we are blessed.
